Hello,
Dentistry has come a long way over the last few years and many of you will be surprised on your next visit. Even if you have put off going to the dentist and are experiencing problems, your dentist has new ways to provide relatively painless treatment.
For invasive procedures such as wisdom teeth extraction, biopsies and complex root canal surgery, nerve blockare often administered. This involves the injection of an anesthetic to block sensation to the nerve that sends pain signals to the brain. By blocking the nerve with an anesthetic, the dentist can numb the area requiring treatment for a specific period of time. To eliminate the discomfort associated with injections, topical agents are applied to tissues prior to the injection. This combined with the use of Nitrous Oxide or "laughing gas" for relaxation can often reduce the pain, fearand anxiety associated with shots. Although still experimental, laser technology may soon change the way dentists treat tooth decay.

Controlling Dental Pain
Hello everyone,
For some straight forward dental procedures, controlling pain and fear can be controlled by utilizing relaxation tools such as Nitrous Oxide or Hypnodontics. However, other more complex procedures, such as surgical scaling and root canal therapy, require nerve blocks in combination with relaxation therapy Dental Health Maintenance Of course, the most important way to reduce the pain involved in maintaining oral health is by focusing on preventive careinstead of the treatment of problems.
If you've put off going to the dentist for years and have neglected regular flossingor brushing, you may be experiencing advanced stages of tooth decay or gum disease - both painful problems. The furtherdecay spreads, the more radical the treatment required. This causes trauma to the tooth and gums that results in discomfort

Dental Pain - Is It All In Your Head?
Hello,
The first step in managing or eliminating the discomfort involved with going to the dentist, is understanding its source. In many cases, the myths about dental pain often outweigh the realities and the anxiety caused by these myths further intensifies the pain. Psychological Factors In addition to the perceived pain brought on by intimidating sights and sounds, other factors such as your state-of-mindcan effect the level of discomfort experienced.
A high level of stress and irritability makes it more difficult to control pain. Although the reasons are not fully understood, the effect of anxiety on the body's ability to suppress pain issignificant often requiring that the patient be premedicated with anti-anxiety drugs such as Valium. Physiological Factors Because of the oral cavity's proximity to the brain, as well as the complex nerve structure of the head and neck, dental pain is often more severe than pain in other parts of the body. Of the 12 cranial nerves that control motor and sensory functions of the head and neck, the Trigeminal Nerve or 5th Nerveis responsible for sending pain signals to the brain. The Maxillary Nerve and Mandibular Nerve sections of the Trigeminal Nerve relay pain signals from the upper and lowerteeth.
One of the most trouble some biological factors that dentists must deal with is bacterial infection. In addition to the sensitivity caused by infections, the initial inability of oral infections in the teeth and boney structures to drainresults in the build up of pressure. As bacteria quickly multiplies and produces gaseous toxins, pressure increases and pain results. If an infection is neglected for even a day or two, the pressure can become intolerable

What do you fear most about going to the dentist?
Hello,
Just the thought of having anything inserted into your cheek and acavity removed from your tooth is enough to bring fearto you and tears to your eyes. However, surprisingly it is not the actual dental procedure that most often terrifies patients.
According to surveys, the site of a needle and the sound of the drill werethe two most feared elements of dentistry. In any office they use the Painless Injection for years. It may seem strange, but visual stimuli, sounds and even memories can actually enhance pain. In fact, fear and anxiety related todental procedures very often complicates matters. It is comforting to know that just as the mind can trick you into interpreting sights and sounds as pain, so too can the mind be used to control pain. In my next articles, I will explore and explain the reasons behind the severity of dental discomfort and offer options for its control. If anyone have a question, just leave a comment.

Diagnosis Prognosis And Treatment Plan OF Periodontal Diseases
The signs and symptoms of periodontal disease :
1-Gingival color: Any deviation from the normal color of the gingival may be an indication of a pathological condition.Dark red discoloration of the gingival margin and the interdental papillae is an early sign of a gingival lesion.
2-Texture: If the gingiva becomes inflamed, there will be edema, cellular infiltration, with subsequent swelling.
3-Contour and position: In early gingival involvement, margin of gingiva becomes rounded and bulbous.
4-Bleeding and exudation: Bleeding and exudation are signs of periodontal disease. Both are possible when ulcerations of sulcular epithelium occur, exposing underlying connective tissue.
5-Pockets: A pocket is defined as a deepened pathological gingival sulcus. Measuring the depth of the gingival sulcus alone must not make the diagnosis of pocket, but the condition of the gingival tissue must be taken into consideration. The signs and symptoms of pocket formation are those of gingival inflammation: discoloration, loss of contour, loss of stippling, bleeding, presence of exudates and increased depth of the gingival sulcus.
6-Mobility: Mobility of teeth may be correlated with the degree of the attachment by marginal resorption of bone and to the changes in the attachment apparatus.Inrare cases, mobility may be associated with periodontosis, which is a degenerative disease of the periodontium.
7-Migration: Migration is a pathological movement of the teeth in a labial, distal or mesial direction or in supraocclusion position. Migration is a characteristic sign of periodontal disease.aminaa
8-Bone involvement: This is studied by radiographic examination cup shape resorption of the alveolar crest in the molar region, and cup shape resorption or flat resorption in the anterior region is an indication of an inflammatory penitential involvement which has reached the underlying bone.
9-Periodontal abscess: Periodont abcess is an acute exacerbation of a periodontal pocket. It occurs in pockets with narrow orifices where pus is collected. If the patient suffers from multiple acute periodontal abscess formation, diabetes must be suspected.
10-Gingival abscess: Gingival abscess is a localized collection of pus in the marginal gingiva. It is due to injury by a foreign body as apple core, lobster shell, fish bone,or a bristle of a toothbrush. In contrast to periodontal abscess,it involves the superficial tissues of the periodontium and not the deeper structures.

How can we prevent malocclusion of teeth
Hello,
Like a rat, or rabbit, guinea pigs teeth never stop growing. Read this article to know how to prevent Malocclusion so your guinea pig won't suffer from this painful.
1-Motivation of good oral hygiene through:
-Brushing of teeth after each meal using fluoridated toothpaste.
-Control eating sweets between meals.
-Control eating soft diet in general.
2-Regular visits to the dentist to restore carious teeth and pulp treatment of the deciduous teeth if caries involved the pulp chamber.
3-Fabricating snake maintainers if pulp therapy fails.

Causes of early loss of deciduous teeth
Hello,
There are many causes of early loss of deciduous teeth:
1-destructive caries with its sequela of periapical infection.
2-Ectopic or abnormal eruptive position of the first permanent molar. The latter tooth erupts under-neath the exaggerated distal bulge of the crown of the second deciduous molar with subsequent destruction of the distal part of the crown.
3-Ueven resorption of the roots of the deciduous second molar due to abnormal position of the unerupted second bicuspid.
4-Congenital absence of permanent second bicuspid does prevent the resorption of the roots of the second deciduous molar. In this case the second deciduous molar is extracted and a space maintainer is fabricated.
5-Ankylosed second deciduous molar with or without the congenital absence of the bicuspid

Prevention Of Malocclusion Of Teeth
Hello,
It is very important to protect deciduous teeth because deciduous teeth are the best space maintainers for the permanent teeth.
Early loss of deciduous teeth results in:
1-Lack of forward growth of the alveolar processes
2-Partial or complete loss of the space heeded for the eruption
of permanent teeth.
3-over eruption of the teeth opposite to the early lost deciduous
teeth.
4-Forward or lateral shift of the mandible resulting in anterior
or posterior crossbite
